Description

Set amidst three-and-a-half acres of park-like grounds, and just 10 minutes from Whangarei’s CBD, Radius Rimu Park integrates rest home, private hospital, dementia, palliative and respite care.

Encompassed by beautifully landscaped grounds and mature trees, Radius Rimu Park’s courtyards, planter boxes and a sensory garden provide a tranquil environment that encourages residents and their family and friends to linger and spend time together. The open plan lounge and dining room are designed to capture the sun and create a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Individual rooms can be decorated according to personal taste, and we encourage residents to bring a special piece of furniture that is dear to their hearts and make their room their own.

The wide range of services Radius Rimu Park offers to our residents includes dementia care. We provide a secure home for residents living with dementia, and for whom there may be safety concerns and possible behaviour issues. And to assist all our residents to feel secure and settled, our Rimu Park Family Support Group volunteers are on hand, happy to provide advice and suggestions, or simply a friendly chat over a cup of tea.

Sue Billington

facility manager

Sue Billington started her nursing career working at Whangarei Hospital. Her first aged care management position was right here at Rimu Park 23 years ago, working as a nursing tutor. It was there she developed a passion for aged care nursing and management.

Sue is thrilled to return to Whangarei after seven years in the role of Facility Manager in Auckland. The birth of her granddaughter Aliya encouraged Sue’s move back to her hometown of Whangarei. Sue was delighted to find some of the staff she worked with 23 years ago are still at Rimu Park.  She believes her journey has come ‘full circle’ and is glad to be home.

Sue enjoys working alongside the fantastic team at Rimu Park, helping provide excellent care – with love and respect – to our residents and extended whānau in Rimu Park’s homely environment.

Facility Reviews

My parents visited from Tauranga recently where they owned a rest home for 15yrs. They both commented on how smart and fresh the place was looking, How wonderful the “Daffodil Day” celebrations were organized, how friendly the staff were and how the place had “ a lovely, happy, homely feel”. They had visited in Feb 2018 and could not believe the “spruced up” feel the place had.

I would like to thank all of the staff at Rimu Park. The care that they gave my father in law was above and beyond. I can not speak highly enough of them. I will certainly be telling all of my friends who are looking for care for their loved one to go and see them.

My Father had been missing for 16yrs. He had been sent here to the Radius Rimu Rest home by a local hospital with a diagnosis that he had 28 days to live. Because of the wonderful and Loving care they gave him he lived another 2 yrs. He had been especially fond of the chef! When my Father passed away it was one of the staff and a dear friend of my Dad's that cared enough to try and look for his Family. They found my Brother on 'Facebook' and contacted him about Dad's death. My Brother and I are forever grateful to all the staff including the Head Chef who I understand my Dad was very fond of, and the Head Matron for the time, care and help they all went through to look after my Father. From the hugs I recieved when we arrived to see where Dad had been living these last few yrs, I was overwhelmed by the love they held for my Dad. To have finally been able to find him even at such a time, it was a blessing to know he was cared for so well and not alone in his last yrs.
